Additional container checks will take place in the outlying area of gemeente Dronten in the coming period. Residents of the outlying area have received a letter about this, along with a leaflet with tips to separate their waste even better.
'We focus mainly on Plastic Cans and Drinking Packs (PBD),' says waste coach Elizabeth Lekkerkerk. 'In the outlying area, a lot of industrial waste still ends up among the PBD and this is unfortunate. Milk filters, parts of sprinkler systems and agricultural plastic do not belong in the PBD container. This cannot be recycled and should go in the commercial waste container,' says waste coach Elizabeth Lekkerkerk.
'During the checks of the PBD containers, we let people know by means of container hangers whether the waste is properly separated or not. If it goes well, people get a thank you. If not, we give tips. During the first check, a collection vehicle takes away the waste that is not properly separated as residual waste. On the second round, we leave the bins in place. If necessary, I visit the addresses to give tips on waste separation and explain why it is important.'
A sustainable future with less residual waste. In which waste is better separated. That is the course of the gemeente Dronten. To ensure that we separate our waste better, the municipality has appointed a waste coach: Elizabeth Lekkerkerk. Together with the residents of the outlying area, I look at what is already going well. How can things be done better? In the end everyone benefits, because burning waste is expensive and we all pay for it. And by separating waste properly, more products can be recycled. Together we are going for 100 percent waste separation.
