Why separate PBD waste?

For now and our future

Your refrigerator and pantry are probably full of products wrapped in plastic. By separating them properly, we can turn these materials into new stuff.

How do you know if it belongs to the PBD? Do the short check!

  • Is it packaging?
  • Is it empty?
  • Is it coming from the kitchen or bathroom?

All three answered yes? Then it is single-use household packaging waste and may go in the PBD!

What may be included (PBD) plastic, cans & drinking containers?

PBD is single-use household packaging waste. Is it packaging? Is it empty? Does it come from the kitchen or bathroom? Then it belongs in the PBD!

  • Plastic bottles (milk, vinegar, lemonade syrup)
  • Squeeze bottles of sauces
  • Chips packaging
  • Squeeze bags (such as Capri-Sun, Breaker and cat food bags)
  • Coffee packaging (without paper)
  • Bottles of detergents, shampoo and soap
  • Plastic cups of yogurt, custard and ice cream (without paper wrapper)
  • Trays of French fries, salad, vegetables and fruit
  • Tubs of butter, sauce, cheese spread
  • Packaging of cheese, meat and fish (cheese paper is residual waste)
  • Packaging of items such as toothbrushes, screws and toys (blisters without paper)
  • Tubes of gel, body lotion and toothpaste
  • Films of magazines and advertising leaflets (without leaflets/paper)
  • Tetrapaks
  • Plastic bags of pasta, rice, bread, candy, etc.
  • Plastic bags and pouches
  • Push-through strips / blister packaging - combi foil and plastic (without content)
  • Plant pots (the pot that is around the plant when you buy it)
  • Bottles for soda, water and vinegar
  • Beverage cans (empty)
  • Beer Cups
  • Steel syrup bottles (empty)
  • Canned food (empty)
  • Aluminum foil and trays (empty)
  • Waxlight cups (empty)
  • Packs of juice, water, wine, milk, custard and yogurt (empty)
  • Packs of soup and pasta sauce (empty)
  • Packs of baby food (empty)
  • Soft plastic plant trays

What may not at (PBD) plastic, cans & drinking containers?

  • Hard plastics (such as: laundry baskets, flower pots, toys, buckets) - environmental street (free)
  • All forms of compostable plastic (biodegradable plastic). So plastic with seedling logo or OK compost logo (words like biodegradable, compostable or biodegradable / biodegradable) - GFT container
  • Agricultural plastic, pond liner, rooting cloth or tarp - environmental street (free)
  • Kit tubes - environmental street (free)
  • Party tents - environmental site (free of charge)
  • Garden hoses - environmental street (free)
  • Coat hangers - environmental street (free)
  • Swimming pools, rubber bands, inflatable PVC - environmental street
  • Full or half-empty packaging - residual waste
  • Nets / nets from fruits, vegetables and Christmas trees - residual waste
  • Opaque bags filled with contents (empty bags do) - residual waste
  • Plastic bottles that have contained hazardous materials that are NOT properly emptied (such as: bleach, thinner, benzene, stain remover or drain unblocker) - environmental street (free)
  • Video and cassette tapes, CDs and DVDs - environmental site - environmental site
  • Medical waste such as: ostomy bags - residual waste, or hypodermic needles - pharmacy
  • Coffee cups - residual waste
  • Styrofoam - environmental street
  • Aerosol cans full - environmental street (free), empty residual waste
  • Paint cans / paint buckets (full or empty) - environmental street
  • All forms of biobased plastic (plastic made from plants such as corn and potatoes) - residual waste
  • Packing plastic from furniture, white and brown goods and hay, among others - environmental street

Bought sofas? Bring the plastic to the recycling yard so we can recycle them. Large plastic makes machines jam.

Don't stink at it! Please bring Styrofoam to the recycling yard. Only then can we recycle it.

Large pieces of agricultural plastic and nets are commercial waste and are not accepted at the environmental street. These materials may go to processors for commercial plastic waste.

Broken buckets, lawn chairs and toys are hard plastics
and may go to the
environmental site.

Old tarps, a garden hose, swimming pool and swimming straps are also not recyclable. They can go in the residual waste. Does it not fit in the residual waste bin? If so, bring it to the recycling center.

Medical waste such as infusion bags and tubing belong in the residual waste for hygiene reasons.

Here's how to make PBD more recyclable

Plastic containers, tin containers and drinking cartons are valuable. Especially if they are collected properly. The better separated, the more packaging gets a second life as raw material for new products and packaging. With the following tips, you can make them even more recyclable.

Empty them

It is important that single-use household packaging waste containers are empty. But they do not have to be completely clean. Rinsing is not necessary.

Flatten them

Flatten packages. The reason is very simple: you save space that way. Remove the cap from the plastic bottle or drink pack and squeeze out the air. Then screw the cap back on the package.

Release them

Do not put packages together. Items stuck together cannot be properly sorted by the processor. Therefore, detach them. This makes recycling easier.

In the house, use a separate bin

Put your PBD waste in a bag

Did you know that you can get free PBD bags at various locations in Biddinghuizen, Dronten and Swifterbant? These are transparent bags where you can collect your plastic containers, cans and drinking cartons before putting them in the PBD container.
